A companion app for touring rallies — the kind where a field of cars drives a route across several days. It holds the programme, the routes, the group chat, the people you meet along the way, and warnings about what is on the road ahead. It is not a timing or scoring system, and it does not do turn-by-turn navigation itself.

iPhone with iOS 17 or later — download it from the App Store. Android 10 or later — get it on Google Play.

Yes. You can sign in with Google or with an e-mail address on both platforms, and with Apple on iPhone. Then pick a nickname — that is the name the rest of the field sees. Car, nationality and profile picture are optional and can be added later.

On the Home tab, choose JOIN RALLY and enter the invite code you got from the organizer. If the organizer sent you a link instead, just open it — the app takes you straight to the rally. Codes are six characters, and organizers can also set an easier alias like EURO2027. Both work.

From whoever is running the rally. Rallies are private — there is no public list, and there is no way into a rally without the code.

Some organizers turn on an approval queue. Your code was correct; the organizer just has to let you in. They get a notification the moment you enter the code, and you get one when they approve you. Until then the rally content stays closed.

Yes, in a reduced form. You can build your profile and your garage, post to the feed, and follow other people. Programme, map and chat open up once you are in a rally.

Yes. One rally is your active context at a time, and you switch between them from the switcher at the top of the Program, Map and Chat tabs. Past rallies stay fully open — the programme, the photos and the chat do not disappear when the rally ends.

The Program tab. It shows the whole rally page for your active rally: the days, the teams, the awards and the practical information. While a rally is running, the current day is lifted to the top.

The organizer has not published that day yet. You can see that the day exists and what date it falls on, but not the content. That is deliberate — it is how organizers keep a surprise stage a surprise. It opens by itself when they reveal it.

A timeline in order: common start, driving stops, lunch, parking, transfers, meetups, dinner and hotel. Each entry can carry a time, a place, whether it is included in the entry fee, and notes from the organizer — bus departure times, table reservations, that sort of thing.

Every entry with a place has a navigate button. It hands off to the map app you prefer — Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze — instead of trying to do the driving directions itself. RallyMate shows you where you are going; your map app gets you there.

The forecast for that place at that time, from MET Norway (Yr). It only appears on entries that have a location, and only inside the forecast window of about nine days. No icon simply means there is no forecast to show yet — nothing is broken.

Yes. When an organizer edits a day that is already published, they are asked whether to notify the field, and can add a short note explaining what changed. That arrives as a notification.

Profile, then SHARE MY POSITION — or the same button on the Map tab. Sharing is off until you turn it on, every single time, and you pick how long it lasts: always while you are a member of that rally, the whole rally period, or a driving window each day (09–17 by default). It stops on its own outside the period you chose.

You choose: everyone in the rally, the members of one of your group chats, or a single person. Never anyone outside that rally, and never people in your other rallies. Turning sharing off removes your position entirely — it is not kept.

Turn on the Drivers layer on the Map tab and everyone currently sharing shows up with their picture and nickname. There is also a "find on map" button on a participant's profile. Positions older than about five minutes are hidden rather than shown as stale.

Tap the megaphone on the Home tab, or the report button on the Map tab. Choose warning, accident or closed road, check the pin — drag it if the spot is not exactly where you are — and send. Your nickname goes on the report, the same way it does on Waze.

A warning two hours, an accident three, a closed road twenty-four. When someone drives past, the app asks whether it is still there; a yes resets the clock, and two people answering no clears it immediately. So the map cleans itself up without anyone having to remember.

Turn on Safety alerts in your profile. Then you get a notification when someone reports something on the road near you — within 5 km for a warning, 20 km for an accident and 50 km for a closed road, so a detour is still an option. A warning that only arrives while you happen to be looking at the screen is worth nothing, so this one needs background location.

It uses a coarse position, roughly 100 metres, and stores only the most recent one — never a track of where you have been. No one in the app can see it, not even the organizer. Only the server reads it, and only to work out whether a new report is near you.

Participants add them as they find them — a dusty field of cars needs both. Add one from the megaphone on the Home tab, with photos if you like, and turn the layers on from the Map tab to see what others have found.

One main chat that every participant is in, group chats that anyone can start, and one-to-one messages. Group chats and direct messages are global — they survive the rally ending and follow you into the next one.

Send text, photos and video. Press and hold for the reaction row and for reply, copy, report or block. You can edit or delete your own messages for fifteen minutes after sending; an edited message is marked as edited, and a deleted one leaves a placeholder.

The pinned messages at the top of the Chat tab, and only organizers can post them. Ordinary ones notify you normally; the critical ones are allowed to break through a focus mode, because "the start is moved an hour" is no use an hour late.

Say yes when the app asks — it asks the first time you join a rally or open a chat, not during sign-up. You get notified about new messages, announcements, an organizer approving you into a rally, new followers, comments on your posts, anyone tagging you with an @, team invitations and join requests, and hazards near you if Safety alerts is on.

Yes — turn them back on for RallyMate in your phone's own settings. On iPhone that is Settings, then RallyMate, then Notifications; on Android, long-press the app icon and open App info.

The crew you drive under — the two or three of you in the same car, or the group that always travels together. Create one from the rally page under NEW TEAM, give it a name and a logo, and invite the others. Your team name shows under your nickname in the participant list and on your profile, so the field knows who belongs with whom.

Either they invite you and you accept, or you open the team and choose ASK TO JOIN. The members get a notification and can let you in. You can be in one team per rally.

Organizers can run votes during the rally — coolest car, best in show, whatever they decide. Some are open to the whole field, others are a shortlist the organizers nominate. You vote in the app, and the result is either published there or kept sealed until the party.

Posts from the people you follow and from your rallies — photos, new cars in the garage, reports and announcements. Follow someone from their profile and their posts show up here.

Anyone can. From the Home tab, "organizing a rally? create it here", or from your profile. Fill in name, dates, countries and an optional description and cover image. You end up inside the rally with the organizer tools visible, and the invite code already generated.

Share the invite code from the rally page — the share button sends a link that opens the app directly. You can add an easier alias such as EURO2027 alongside the auto-generated code; both work at once. Regenerating the code stops the old one immediately, without affecting anyone already in.

Yes. Turn on approval in the rally settings and everyone entering the code lands in a queue instead of in the rally. You get a notification per request and approve or reject from the participant list.

Add a day, give it a date and a title, then fill its timeline with entries: common start, driving stops, lunch, parking, transfers, dinner, hotel. Drag to reorder. Give an entry a place and participants get a navigate button; give it a time window and they see when the shuttle runs.

New days start hidden. Participants see only that day N exists and what date it is, until you make it visible. Edits to a hidden day are saved silently — nobody is notified about a day they cannot see.

The route is calculated through the day's driving points in timeline order, and you can drag in extra via points to force it over the mountain pass you actually want. Up to three alternatives per day: recommended, scenic and fast. Ferry crossings cannot be road-routed — those segments show as a straight line, with both ports on the map.

Save the change on a published day and the app asks whether to notify the field, with room for a short explanation. For anything bigger, post an announcement — and mark it critical if it is genuinely time-sensitive.

Both build and edit the programme, post announcements and manage participants. Only an admin changes rally settings and hands out roles. The person who created the rally is the first admin, and a rally always keeps at least one.

Yes. The main chat can be set to organizers only — useful during a critical stage — and switched back afterwards. It is enforced on the server, not just hidden in the app.

You can remove a participant from the participant list; they lose access immediately. Messages they already sent stay in the chat with their nickname, so the conversation still makes sense.

Only the people you actively chose to share with, in the one rally you shared in, for as long as you chose. Off is the default. Safety alerts is separate and shows your position to nobody — see the answer above.

Press and hold any message, post or comment and choose Report. You can block a person from their profile; their messages, posts and comments then disappear for you everywhere, and they can no longer notify you. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.

From the rally list on your profile. You lose the programme and the main chat, your group chats and direct messages survive, and you can come back with the invite code. If you are the only admin, hand that role to somebody else first.

Hide it from the same menu. That is personal — it disappears from your switcher and your lists, and nobody else notices.

Profile, then Delete account. Your profile, cars, photos, memberships and follows are deleted permanently, and messages you sent are anonymized. If you no longer have the app installed, see account deletion.

A programme you have already opened stays readable offline, and so do the day's stops. Map tiles, new messages and fresh reports need a connection. Anything you send while offline goes out when you are back on the network.

Position sharing updates roughly every 30 seconds or 150 metres rather than continuously, and only while you are actually sharing. Safety alerts uses a deliberately coarse position for the same reason. Both are off unless you turn them on.
